“If you’d rather mop the floor than have sex, that’s a problem” is one of my favorite quotes from Harvard-trained M.D. Sarah Gottfried.
PCOS, PMS problems, Amenorrhea and other female hormone problems are way too common in our western society. A shocking statistic I recently saw was 10.9% of US women are infertile and it’s likely the true number is even higher.
Reproduction Is a Hallmark of Health
Our bodies are built for it, our brains are wired for it, and our hormones beg us to partake. And anything that disrupts this natural order will create chronic health problems.
As a man I can never fully appreciate the female cycle of hormones. But I can observe those around me and notice the glowing skin, radiating feminine energy and confidence of those whose hormones are working for them. I can also observe those struggling with imbalances and how it wrecks libido, skin, mood, energy, body image and balance in their lives.
Of course the tricky part is that almost every manifestation of female hormone issues is completely unique. Your symptoms, your rhythms and their manifestations are completely unique to you.
That’s why I knew I needed to get Stefani Ruper on the podcast. I wanted to learn what her struggles with PCOS felt like, what she’s done to overcome it, and to introduce you to the wonderful resource that is paleoforwomen.com.
