If you haven’t heard, your genes aren’t the determination of your health.
What was once a well known fact is now a MYTH. It is now clear that genes can be turned on and off through your life, just a like a light switch in your house. This turning on and off is called “Epigenetics.”
Some research is suggesting that certain genes might switch on and off as soon as 3 days after making changes to your diet or lifestyle. However, the research is obviously not conclusive in this area… so stay tuned.
That doesn’t mean genetics don’t matter.
In fact they do. Your genes predispose you to certain health conditions, but the key is that this idea of “epigenetic switching” is what turns them on or off.
Being aware of this is critical for long-term health.
Dr. Tim Jackson spent several years focusing on genetics, epigenetics and helping those with chronic health conditions. And in this podcast, he shared some pretty awesome nuggets about the role epigenetics play in gut health.

Dr. Tim looks at health from a 30,000 foot height and takes in the “holistic” picture to help people! Another great interview
Great question, Laurie! I was wondering that too.
How do we know for sure if the leaky gut has been healed?
