One of the most important keys to SCD success is using your own psychology to make sure the diet is working for you. It’s easy to get lost in the fog, think the diet isn’t working, and then feel like giving up before you take back control of your health. The breakthroughs are so hard to realize in the moment that it can crush your momentum.

For example, if you have a setback a couple days in a row because you tried a new food, it can be easy to think that the diet stopped working and you’re back to being sick again. But, if you pause for a moment and think back, you might realize that what you call diarrhea now was actually a decent poop 3 months ago when you were going 10 times a day! It’s so easy to forget what that was like and get stuck in the daily ups and downs.

    With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism
    or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot
    of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization.
    Do you know any techniques to help protect against content from
    being stolen? I’d certainly appreciate it.

    Hi Jordan and Steve,
    Are there any canned fruit items available in a regular grocery that are OK? At our groceries locally (in Southern CA) the canned fruit has other fruit juice added – for example, peaches are canned in pear juice. Are these OK? Thanks

    I listened to this late last night and just had to come and thank you both. It’s never easy to talk about your “sick life”, and you both did it openly and honestly. We’ve all had embarassing incidents, I’m sure. Shortly after I was diagnosed, I was working as a cashier in a grocery store. It was the holidays and we were straight out busy. I was begging for my break because I felt so awful. I remember the manager looking at me and saying “sorry, I just can’t relieve you yet”. The pain from the urgency was so awful that I sank to my knees and passed out on the floor. It was the worst thing that had happened to me. This was 20 years ago, and I didn’t read BTVC for many years after that. I had been living on ramen noodles and saltine crackers. Well, maybe “living” isn’t the right word for it! I’m so grateful for this online community that the SCD has become! It feels so much better to know that I’m not the only one who has dealt with this. Jordan, congratulations to you on your new little one. I’m so happy for you that you were able to truly enjoy the birth experience. It’s so much easier to be a parent when you feel well. Thanks again to both of you!

      Thanks for the kind words Kristen – it means alot! I can relate to your story – I wonder if your boss had any clue what you were dealing with? Jeez…

      I’m sorry you had to experience that, but I’m so happy that you are working on taking control now, that’s what’s important.

      Being a father is so amazing and I will never go back to doing it as a sick person again. It still breaks my heart thinking about that time I can’t get back.
