A few weekends ago, I met up with my Grandpa for a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning.

There’s something special about sharing a cup of coffee with him. I just feel safe listening to him share stories about his life, like I’m a kid sitting in front of a warm fire place on cold snowy night.

Do you want to know the best part?

I wasn’t able to share that cup of coffee with him for a long time – not until I did “the great coffee experiment.”

On this podcast, we talk about being an SCD scientist and how to test your healing. I also share my great coffee experiment with you.

If you want to hear us joking about cocaine and how we hate the word “diet,” make sure to listen to the podcast to learn our best theories about how and when to introduce new foods no matter what they used to do to you.

My friend has lost 20 lbs in 8 months by being on the diet. His weight loss has leveled out but he wants to gain back weight healthfully. Any suggestions? He is already eating lots of meat and eggs and has been avoiding nut because of diverticulosus…..

Another great podcast! Really look forward to these to keep me focused on following the SCD lifestyle in my daily life. Helps me feel like I’m going through it with someone by my side rather than feeling alone in the wilderness.

    Hi there,
I started the scd the beginning of december 2010, 2months before that had not eaten any illegal foods(scd) except potatoes were in my diet(this was according to my food antigen test)and before I decided to try the scd. Over the past month, I must have eaten a quit a bit of almond flour goodies, so I have laid off them as I think they may have irritated things. So, as of a couple of days ago, I got a colonoscopy and have started the scd with the food items Elaine suggests(yogurt, dccc, gelatin, chx soup, etc) My question is…when do you suggest I add a new food item to my diet. I have been very strict these past few days with only those items, I even ordered scd multi vitamin, and a couple others. Also, ordered Boswellia and Olive Leaf extract, do you know anything about them? Did some research and it looks like they perform the same as prednisone and sulphasalazine, flagyl. One more… do you know of an scd compliant probiotic. I am taking one now(Renew), but has a couple strains Elaine does not recommend. Or do you think the yogurt is enough? I know each person is different….I thank you so very much for reading this. I love this site and the scd. Have you heard of the study Rush University is doing? It is the first study being conducted with people who have UC( not sure bout Crohn’s) who are following the scd

Hi Adria, we have heard about the study – look for something coming soon on that, we’re checking into to it right now. I’m glad to hear that you started the diet – great job. To answer a couple of your questions in one shot, make sure you go to http://www.giprohealth.com to find SCD Legal probiotics, digestive enzymes, etc. Steve and I both use them and love their products. Be careful with other products that aren’t SCD legal in the beginning, because they may do more harm than good.

As far as introducing new foods goes, only follow the intro diet for 2-3 days and then move into more diverse meats and try a new veggie. If you still aren’t feeling better than you might try going dairy free for 30 day before you try it again. Sometimes that’s all it takes for people to finally feel great.

Let us know how you’re doing.

I wanted to thank you for this podcast. it was very enlightening. I can’t eat a lot of the foods on the scd diet and it was really confusing bec. I though I should be able to digest it if it’s on the diet. and i started yesterday listening to my body and taking out foods that were bothering me or causing a symptom.
